Seedance AI Agent: Seedance Pricing per Clip, Token Math and Where an Agent Fits

Ahmed Ezat October 14, 2026 13 min read
Seedance price per 5-second 720p clip by model

TL;DR. Seedance is ByteDance’s video generation model family, sold to developers through BytePlus ModelArk. On 14 October 2026 the BytePlus ModelArk pricing page (last updated 8 October 2026) billed Seedance per million output tokens: Seedance 2.0 at $7.00 (480p and 720p, no video input), 2.0 Fast at $5.60, 2.0 Mini at $3.50 and Seedance 2.5 at $10.70. The page’s own examples put a 5-second 720p clip at $0.38 on Mini, $0.60 on Fast, $0.76 on 2.0 and $1.156 on 2.5. Failed or moderated renders are not billed. A Seedance key renders clips; it does not research what to make, write the prompts, keep the files or post them. Below are four priced scenarios, all in US dollars, list price, before tax, per month unless stated.

The search “seedance pricing” comes from two kinds of buyer. Developers want the per-token rate and a way to turn it into a price per clip before they build. Marketers and founders have seen Seedance videos on social media and want to know what a month of short clips would cost, and whether an “AI agent” could run the whole thing for them.

This guide gives both groups the numbers from the official BytePlus pricing page, shows the token formula so you can price any clip yourself, and is plain about where an agent subscription adds cost instead of removing it. One limit up front: the consumer Dreamina app, which also runs Seedance, did not show its subscription prices to a signed-out visitor when we checked, so this article compares the official API with an agent and does not quote Dreamina plan prices.

What is Seedance, and which version should you use?

Seedance turns a text prompt, an image or a reference video into a short video clip. The BytePlus pricing page listed seven Seedance models on 14 October 2026. The four that matter for most new work are:

Model Resolutions Rate, no video input (USD per million tokens) Rate with video input
Seedance 2.5 480p, 720p, 1080p $10.70 (480p/720p), $11.70 (1080p) $6.40, $7.00
Seedance 2.0 480p to 4K $7.00 (480p/720p), $7.70 (1080p), $4.00 (4K) $4.30, $4.70, $2.40
Seedance 2.0 Fast 480p, 720p $5.60 $3.30
Seedance 2.0 Mini 480p, 720p $3.50 $2.10

Older models are still listed: Seedance 1.5 Pro at $2.40 with audio or $1.20 without, Seedance 1.0 Pro at $2.50 and 1.0 Pro Fast at $1.00, each with a cheaper offline (batch) rate. The 2.x models showed “Not supported yet” for offline inference.

The practical rule is simple. If your clips are delivered at 720p or below, start on Mini, which costs half of Seedance 2.0 per token. Move up only when you can see the difference you are paying for, or when you need 1080p or 4K, which Mini and Fast do not offer.

How is a Seedance clip priced?

Seedance is billed per token, and for video a token is a unit of pixels over time. The pricing page gives the estimate:

Tokens ≈ (input video seconds + output video seconds) × width × height × frame rate ÷ 1,024

The actual figure is whatever the API returns in usage.completion_tokens. Here is the formula worked for a 5-second, 720p (1280 × 720), 24 frames per second clip with no video input:

  • 1,280 × 720 = 921,600 pixels per frame
  • × 24 frames × 5 seconds = 110,592,000
  • ÷ 1,024 = 108,000 tokens
  • On Mini: 108,000 × $3.50 ÷ 1,000,000 = $0.378, which the page rounds to $0.38
  • On Seedance 2.0: 108,000 × $7.00 ÷ 1,000,000 = $0.756, shown as $0.76

The same arithmetic at 1080p (1920 × 1080) gives 243,000 tokens, and 243,000 × $7.70 ÷ 1,000,000 = $1.87 on Seedance 2.0, matching the page’s example. That is useful: you can price any length and resolution before you render.

The official per-clip examples

5-second clip, 16:9, no video input 480p 720p 1080p 4K
Seedance 2.5 $0.514 $1.156 $2.843 n/a
Seedance 2.0 $0.35 $0.76 $1.87 $3.89
Seedance 2.0 Fast $0.28 $0.60 n/a n/a
Seedance 2.0 Mini $0.18 $0.38 n/a n/a

Three billing details that change the total

  • Failures are free. The page says you are charged only for successfully generated videos; a render blocked by content moderation costs nothing.
  • Video input has a floor. When you feed a reference video, the per-token rate is lower, but a minimum token consumption applies. A 5-second 720p Seedance 2.0 clip with a 2 to 15 second input video was listed at $0.84 to $1.86, more than the $0.76 text-only clip.
  • Draft mode bills twice. Seedance 2.5 Draft mode renders a 480p draft first and then the final, and each step is billed separately.

What does a Seedance API key buy, and what does it not?

The key buys renders. Send a prompt, get a link to a clip. Everything else a working video channel needs sits outside it:

  • Deciding what to make: which topics, hooks and formats are getting views in your niche this week.
  • Writing the prompts and scripts, and keeping a consistent look across clips.
  • Downloading each file promptly. Generated video links are signed and short-lived, so a pipeline that stores the link instead of the file loses the clip.
  • Captions, voice-over, music and the final edit.
  • Posting, scheduling and checking what performed.

Those steps are where the hours go, and they are what people usually mean when they ask for a “Seedance AI agent”.

Hand the research and scripting to an agent

Katteb can look at what performs on a platform, write original scripts and prompts, and prepare your short videos with captions and a voice-over for you to approve.

Use cases for a Seedance AI agent

  1. Weekly social clips for a brand. The agent checks what is performing in the niche, writes three to five concepts, renders drafts on Mini and moves the winner to a higher model.
  2. Product hero shots. An ecommerce team renders a few 1080p or 4K clips from a product photo for a landing page or an ad.
  3. Ad creative testing. A performance marketer needs ten variations of one hook to test, where cost per variant matters more than polish.
  4. Explainer B-roll. A content team needs short scene clips to sit under a voice-over.
  5. In-app generation. A developer offers video generation inside a product. This is an API job, priced in Scenario D, and an agent does not belong in it.

Which route for which job?

Job Best fit Why
Drafts and social clips at 720p Seedance 2.0 Mini via API Half the per-token rate of 2.0
1080p or 4K hero clips Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 Mini and Fast stop at 720p
Video inside your app ModelArk API Needs code and per-clip control
Deciding what to make, scripting, editing, posting An agent A render endpoint does none of it

Four priced scenarios: Seedance API vs Seedance with Katteb

Assumptions for every scenario: US dollars; BytePlus list prices read on 14 October 2026; before tax; online inference; 16:9, 5-second clips, 24 fps, no video input; prices per clip taken from the page’s examples; Katteb Lite at $19 a month or $190 a year from katteb.com/pricing; staff time at $30 an hour; your own engineering and hosting not counted.

One limit we cannot price around. Katteb plans include image and video generation “within fair use”, but the fair usage policy does not publish the monthly video limit or say which video model is used for a given clip. So we do not claim that Katteb renders Seedance-quality clips for less than the API. In the scenarios below, Katteb is priced as the work around the renders, and the Seedance bill stays in full.

Scenario A: a brand publishing 20 clips a month at 720p

Assume three renders for every clip you keep (two drafts and a final), so 60 renders a month.

  • All on Mini: 60 × $0.38 = $22.80
  • All on Seedance 2.0: 60 × $0.76 = $45.60
  • All on Seedance 2.5: 60 × $1.156 = $69.36
  • Drafts on Mini, finals on 2.0: 40 × $0.38 + 20 × $0.76 = $15.20 + $15.20 = $30.40

Drafting on Mini and finishing on 2.0 costs $15.20 a month less than rendering everything on 2.0 ($45.60 − $30.40), and $38.96 less than everything on 2.5 ($69.36 − $30.40). That is the cheapest change most teams can make, and it needs no agent.

Scenario B: the same 20 clips, with the work around them

Say each kept clip takes 10 minutes of human work outside the render: checking what to make, writing the prompt, downloading, captioning and posting. 20 clips × 10 minutes = 200 minutes, or 3.33 hours, which is $100 of staff time at $30 an hour.

  • API only (mixed plan from A): $30.40 renders + $100 staff time = $130.40
  • API + Katteb Lite: $30.40 + $19 = $49.40, plus whatever staff time remains

Katteb is an extra $19 a month in cash. It pays for itself only if it removes more than 38 minutes of that work ($19 ÷ $30 an hour = 0.63 hours), which is about 19% of the 200 minutes. If your process already takes two minutes a clip, it does not.

Scenario C: 10 product hero clips at high resolution

  • Seedance 2.0 at 1080p: 10 × $1.87 = $18.70
  • Seedance 2.5 at 1080p: 10 × $2.843 = $28.43
  • Seedance 2.0 at 4K: 10 × $3.89 = $38.90

For ten clips, 2.0 at 1080p costs $9.73 less than 2.5 at 1080p. An agent adds $19 here and is worth it only if it saves 38 minutes of preparation; for a one-off batch of ten, many teams will do it by hand.

Scenario D: an app generating 10,000 clips a month

  • Mini at 480p: 10,000 × $0.18 = $1,800
  • Fast at 480p: 10,000 × $0.28 = $2,800
  • Seedance 2.0 at 480p: 10,000 × $0.35 = $3,500

Mini costs $1,000 a month less than Fast and $1,700 less than 2.0 at this volume. We did not put Katteb in this scenario: generation inside your own product needs the API, and an agent subscription is not a substitute for it.

Annual billing

The BytePlus page lists usage rates only, with no annual plan. Katteb Lite yearly is $190 against $228 for twelve months, so $38 less a year if you keep it all year.

When you do not need an agent for Seedance

  • You already know exactly what to render and only need clips. Call the API.
  • Generation runs inside your product. That is an API integration.
  • You make a handful of clips a month and the surrounding work takes minutes.

When an agent earns its place

  • Most of your time goes on deciding what to make and on the steps after the render.
  • You want the same weekly routine done without remembering it: research, scripts, clips, captions, a report.
  • You want drafts to come to you for approval rather than to post themselves.

Common questions about Seedance pricing

How much does a Seedance video cost?

A 5-second, 720p, 16:9 clip was listed at $0.38 on 2.0 Mini, $0.60 on 2.0 Fast, $0.76 on 2.0 and $1.156 on 2.5 on 14 October 2026.

Is Seedance free?

The ModelArk pricing page lists paid per-token rates for Seedance with no free video allowance shown. Some image models on the same page list a free first image; that does not apply to video.

Do I pay for failed renders?

No. Only successfully generated videos are billed, according to the pricing page.

Is there a monthly Seedance subscription?

Not on the API side: ModelArk is pay as you go. The Dreamina app has its own plans, but their prices were not visible to a signed-out visitor when we checked, so we do not quote them.

Is Katteb cheaper than Seedance?

We cannot say, and we do not claim it. Katteb does not publish its monthly video fair-use limit or the model behind each clip, so a per-clip comparison would be guesswork. What can be priced is the work around the clips, where Katteb Lite pays for itself above 38 minutes saved a month.

The short version

Seedance pricing is per token, which works out to $0.18 to $3.89 per 5-second clip depending on model and resolution, with failures free. Draft on Mini and finish on a larger model and most teams spend less without changing anything else. An agent does not make the renders cheaper; it is worth paying for only when it takes over the research, scripting and posting around them. If that is where your week goes, try one week of videos in Katteb.
